This is a favourite beach location of mine. It has such a rugged kind of beauty to it. Red Rocks has some lovely spots for photo opportunities (beach, rocks or grassy hilltops).
Princess Bay is another great beach location (tree trunks, grassy hilltops, rocks, beach & water shots to name a few).
*It can be a very busy beach at sunset though which could affect picture taking.
Another beach with some great photo opportunities (photos at Sunrise or Sunset are recommended for beautiful lighting).
This gorgeous little beach with boat sheds is just along Karaka Bay Road past Scorching Bay but before Worser Bay. It's amazing at sunrise but loses the sun at sunset so best to shoot early in the morning. The tide also needs to be out or there isn't a lot of beach to walk on.

This gorgeous spot looks out over Porirua harbour & has panoramic views of the ocean & Mana Island.
A choice of grassy hilltop shots as well as some beach time is a must although this location is a little further outside Wellington.
A bit of a drive up the coast from Wellington but such a perfect little spot. Beautiful during golden hour and lots of space for the kids to run wild. Definitely bring towels, snacks & a change of clothes.
